Description

The Innovate Motorsports HBX-1 Heat-Sink Bung Extender is designed to enhance the durability and accuracy of Bosch LSU4.2 and LSU4.9 wide-band oxygen sensors in high-heat applications. These sensors are rated to operate at exhaust gas temperatures up to 1,700°F (930°C) and housing temperatures below 1,058°F (570°C) at the hex. When these temperature thresholds are exceeded, sensors can produce inaccurate readings or error messages such as the ‘Sensor Timing Error,’ which can be particularly frequent in turbocharged, rotary, or other specialty engine setups. The HBX-1 extends the sensor 1.1875 inches (30mm) out of the original weld boss, effectively reducing the heat exposure while maintaining proper exhaust flow. This specialized design helps prevent sensor overheating, prolonging sensor lifespan and ensuring consistent, precise air-fuel ratio measurements for optimal engine performance.
